Car Accident
Posted by Vicki on Oct 11, 2008
The girls and I were involved in a car accident October 10. No serious injuries, although I am trying to type this entry with a splint/brace on my right arm…*LOL* Ought to make life interesting for a while donm’t you think??
In any case, we are thanking God that we are alive, and that we weren’t hurt worse!! The car was totalled, but than we did roll several times. Still have to contact the insurance company, thank God for full coverage insurance!!
Now if I can stop replaying the accident in my head, that would be good. That is why I am up at 4am, and have been since 2:30am….every time I close my eyes I see what happen, and wonder if I could have done anything differently to protect my babies better. God was sure looking out for us though, because as I said the injuries are minor, and no one else was injured.
Keep us in your prayers please!!!
Am I Nuts??
Posted by Vicki on Oct 9, 2008
Sis asked me tonight if I was thinking about getting another website, and the crazy part is that I am…complete with another blog!!! I already have this blog, my other blog at www.prairierosesamongthorns.com/vblog, and another blog that I do for Homescool Nations….but here I am considering yet another site!!! Paying for it is not a big deal, as I can use the money I make from doing my paid entries, and after a few months I can start doing paid entries over there as well, so the site would pay for itself….Logistically it all works out fine…but what would I talk about over there?? As my sister pointed out, I can always come up with something to talk about…*LOL*…I asked her if that was a compliment!! *LOL* She said it was, and she is right, I can always come up with something, may not be interesting to anyone else, but I can find something to talk about…
Anyway, we are batting around some ideas for names, and will probably decide by the weekend if I will have yet another blog….
Egg Nog Recipes
Posted by Vicki on Oct 9, 2008
Heck, I didn’t even realize there were so many different egg nog recipes!!! In my day you mix one raw/beaten egg with some milk, sugar and nutmeg and you are good to go. Oh, and note to self NEVER NEVER drink store bought egg nog!!! That is the most nasty stuff, in my opinion, that has ever been put on store shelves!!! They make it incredibly too sweet, and you can’t even taste any of the spices/flavors!!
What about you? Do you have a favorite egg nog recipe??

ABOUT THE BOOK
Talented, handsome, and personable, Dewayne Jobe rose from humble beginnings in rural Mississippi to play college football in Southern California and beyond. One of the best wide receivers in college ball, Dewayne is assured a promising career in professional football as one of those rare athletes whose exceptional abilities place him in a league of his own.
He easily finds success both on and off the field. Dewayne’s got a beautiful, intelligent wife running his lucrative endorsement business and carrying his child and the pristine white picket fence to boot. The only thing lacking is a road sign confirming his address on Easy Street.
But catastrophe looms right around the corner and ultimately strikes with a crushing vengeance. Will Dewayne’s faith and character stand the test of such tragedy? Or will he lose everything–including the love of his life?
This modern retelling of the story of Job will capture readers with the age-old question of why bad things happen to good people–and how good people can survive.
Combining realistic sports action and a deadly serious challenge to faith, Hometown Favorite is a story that won’t let you up off the turf until the game clock hits zero.

On a personal note, I really liked this book, although parts of it were very sad, the sadness was part of what made it real, made it grip me until I couldn’t put it down!! That’s what marks it as a good book, when I can’t put it down, can’t wait to see what happens next, and hurry up and get to the end, just so that I know how things play out.
I will be interested to read some of this author’s other books, just to see if I like them as well as I did this one!
Goosing It Up
Posted by Vicki on Oct 6, 2008
Well as you can see, I’ve been doing some work on this blog. New theme, additions and revisions to the sidebar, including my personal favorite “Books I’ve Read”, and while it may look like a pitifully short list, it would have been impossible for me to list all the books that I’ve read in the last year, so decided to start it with this month. I can assure you that the list will grow rapidly, as reading is one of my favorite passtimes!!!
I also started doing a journal prompt thing called Sunday Scribblings. I used to do this over at my other blog and enjoyed it, but just kind of got out of the habit of it, and decided to do it over here, as it is a great way to get readers to your site.
I post all sorts of book reviews, and it seems kind of pointless if no-one comes over to read them. When I get a bit of money, I will start doing some giveaways, but until then I hope you all enjoy the books that I review.
Well, time for me to get on with work I think…A few more entries to do at my other blog, and that will save me from having to do it tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a busy day because we are going to KC to pickup Meg’s new glasses. I can only hope that she takes better care of them this time around. Was money I didn’t want to spend, but nothing else to be done.
Blessings all…and please pray for me!!!! Financial problems are a constant concern right now!!! I don’t want to go back to work, but even if that wasn’t a drawback to me, I have put in probably 50 applications, and not one person has called to interview me….I don’t understand it, but am lead to think that God doesn’t want me to have to work either, and yet an empty checkbook is staring me in the face….How am I going to cover next months bills??? I have no idea!!! Faith would be an excellent thing to pray about as well, as my faith has been flagging for months….Later all.
Harley Parts
Posted by Vicki on Oct 6, 2008
Harley parts is not something that I see myself ever needing. While it may look like fun to go cruising around, I am terrified of motorcycles!! I don’t like the fact that you have to lean on them to go around curves and corners. I am always afraid that the bike will fall over. *LOL* Give me a horse any day!!! *LOL* I have known a few guys that have owned motorcycles, and have had endless invitations to ride with them, but after two attempts, well, I’ve just decided that I’m a chicken, and perfectly happy that way!! *LOL*
Forbidden Fruit
Posted by Vicki on Oct 4, 2008
There was forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, just as there is forbidden fruit in today’s society, it’s just a different kind of fruit. Once upon a time drugs were a forbidden fruit, but many of our people did just what Adam and Eve did, and were persuaded to partake of it, and it ruined Adam and Eve’s lives, and it has ruined many people’s lives today.
Sexy clothes were a forbidden fruit, once upon a time, but now it is commonplace to see women and even children dressing to be “sexy”. I too was taken in by the mantra “if you’ve got it, flaunt it”, and I started my girls on that road as well. Oh, nothing compared to some that I’ve seen, but I let them wear spaghetti strap tanks and such, until I had a change of heart. Thankfully my girls are still young enough that they didn’t bat an eye when I told them that I no longer thought that those kinds of tops were appropriate. I don’t even consider myself that strict on dress codes, even now, but I am more careful. I don’t want my girls growing up to think that they can use their bodies to get what they want. I want them to respect themselves, and to know that just because they are a bit over-weight, or have a models’ body, that it’s what is in their hearts that counts.
Beware of forbidden fruit…It make look good and taste good, but it can lead to your destruction.
