Lexington personal injury lawyers were a dime a dozen it seemed, and only very rarely could you ever find one that really cared about you, and what had happened to you. Ally was one of those lawyers that took caring to the extreme. She wasn’t out for the money, at least not the money in fees, but she did win a fair amount of her cases, but on more than one occasion, she had refused her fee, or taken a very discounted fee. She was a lawyer because that’s what she loved, that’s what she wanted, not because she could make “big money”

The city of Westgate was small, quiet, even quaint in a way. Mostly elderly people lived here, most had lived the majority of their lives here, and wouldn’t move for all the money in the world. They liked their town, the people that lived here, their small family owned businesses, the whole atmosphere of the town. The only thing that most wished, is that their sons and daughters would stick around a bit more, instead of always being in a hurry to move on somewhere else. The people cherished the few younger people that did stay, and the younger people spent a good portion of their time helping out their elderly friends in whatever way needed.

Oh my, I loved this book!! I had read Calico Canyon and really like it, so when I received Gingham Mountain in the mail, I sat down and read it right away! I loved the comedy of it, as well as the seriousness of the plot. The characters were deep, and real. The plot was well layed out, and it fit right in with Calico Canyon!

Ms. Connealy is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine! I’m already on the lookout for more books by Ms. Connealy!

by

Mary Connealy

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Mary’s writing journey is similar to a lot of others. Boil it down to persistence, oh, go ahead and call it stubbornness. She just kept typing away. She think the reason she did it was because she was more or less a dunce around people—prone to sit silently when she really ought to speak up(or far worse, speak up when she ought to sit silently).

So, Mary had all these things, she want to say, in her head; the perfect zinger to the rude cashier, which you think of an hour after you’ve left the store, the perfect bit of wisdom when someone needs help, which doesn’t occur to you until they solve their problems themselves, the perfect guilt trip for the kids, which you don’t say because you’re not an idiot. She keep all this wit to herself, much to the relief of all who know her, and then wrote all her great ideas into books. It’s therapeutic if nothing else, and more affordable than a psychiatrist.

So then a very nice, oh so nice publishing company like Barbour Heartsong comes along and says, “Hey, we’ll pay you money for this 45,000 word therapy session.” That’s as sweet as it gets.

Mary’s journey to publication is the same as everyone’s except for a few geniuses out there who make it hard for all of us. And even they probably have an Ode to Roast Beef or two in their past.

There are two other books in this Lassoed In Texas Series: Petticoat Ranch and Calico Canyon

ABOUT THE BOOK

All aboard for a delightful, suspense-filled romance, where a Texan is torn between his attraction to a meddlesome schoolmarm and the charms of a designing dressmaker. When Hannah Cartwright meets Grant, she’s determined to keep him from committing her orphans to hard labor on his ranch. How far will she go to ensure their welfare?

Grant Cooper is determined to provide a home for the two kids brought in by the orphan train as runs head-on into the new school marm, who believes he’s made slave labor out of eight orphaned children. He crowds too many orphans into his rickety house, just like Hannah Cartwright’s cruel father. Grant’s family of orphans have been mistreated too many times by judgmental school teachers. Now the new schoolmarm is the same except she’s so pretty and she isn’t really bad to his children, it’s Grant she can’t stand.

But he is inexplicably drawn to Hannah. Can he keep his ragtag family together while steering clear of love and marriage? Will he win her love or be caught in the clutches of a scheming seamstress?

*sigh* At some point it will be nice to tell everyone that my wrist is all better, but I can’t say when that will happen, if ever. My wrist never showed any improvement after going through physical therapy. I had basically decided to leave it be, and just live with the pain and mild limititations. However a few days ago my wrist started hurting incredibly bad again, and so I, after some prodding *LOL*, called my orthopedist and made another appointment. Unfortunetely I can’t get in to see him until March 10th.

Spent a good portion of yesterday cleaning up the yard. It was good physical labor. There are times when I love some good, hard physical labor! It makes me feel capable, and strong. Meg was a big help to me too, well, in her own way anyway. *LOL* I still have quite a bit of yard work that I’d like to get done, and if all goes right, perhaps even a garden, but I’m not counting on that, as I’ll have to see how money is, and if I can afford to buy the plants or seeds, and whatever I’d need, like a shovel, or a tiller. I’m rather looking forward to mowing season, when I can pull out my push mower (I have a rider but never use it, will probably sell it), and set about mowing. Shouldn’t be long, as I’ve got quite a bit of green grass and new growth showing in my yard!

Well, I guess that’s about all the rambling I’m going to do here. For more exciting news, you’ll have to hop over to www.winterlilies.com/vblog or www.prairierosesamongthorns.com/vblog

There have been many times in my life that I have wanted to have a hidden spy camera. I know, call me silly, or crazy, probably either word would fit me! *LOL* But don’t most people at some point want to be a “fly on the wall”? I’ve wanted to see the expression on someone’s face when they were told something, or saw something. I’ve wanted a peek into someone else’s life to see how it really was. I also think of spy cameras in terms of my own life. Am I really the same person when others are around watching as I am alone? People rarely are.

She had a surplus of money, thanks to her work, but other than traveling she didn’t act like she was a lady of money. Most often she could be found with her hair up in a ponytail, wearing jeans and t-shirts, or weather permitting shorts and t-shirts. She had money invested in many different ways, helped her parents financially as often as they would allow, traveled comfortabley, bought what struck her fancy and had it shipped home to await her arrival, but more than anything was the many many different places that she donated money to. That was something she enjoyed emmensely was writing out checks and sending them to Native American Reservations and schools, Animal rescues and organizations, and a few others.

One of the greatest things about her work was that she could do it from anywhere. It wasn’t often that she could actually be found at home, as she preferred to see the world. She had taken Caribbean cruises, gone to Hiwaii, traveled all 50 states, Paris, and many other places. She figured at one point that she would go home, and settle down in one place, but for now she enjoyed seeing the world, and being free to go pretty much anywhere she wanted to go.

IT jobs could be difficult to come by, but then again, if you knew your stuff, it could be easy. For her it had always been easy. She was a computer geek through and through. She could probably tell you more then you ever wanted to know about your hard drive, and accessing stuff that you thought had been deleted, and such stuff, but when it came to the latest fashions, articles in the last Women’s magazine or such things, she was out of her element. She didn’t have a lot of friends, but never really felt lonely either.

She was pretty content with her life, and very few people can really say that.

I’m always on the lookout for educational things to do, educational toys, well, anything educational really. I was thrilled when I heard about the magnet toys, like Magnetix that had come out. I thought that would make awesome toys that could be educational as well. One thing I didn’t factor in was the price of these magnets!! Even to this day, several years after being on the market they are still unbelievably expensive.

I find this to be sad, because I would still like to get some, but I am not spending that kind of money for toys that they will outgrow at some age.
