Kitchen Faucets

Posted by Vicki on Mar 19, 2009

The kitchen faucets were running, food was set on the table, seemingly as if someone had just stepped out for a second, but the house was quiet, still as the death that had too place in this quiet house. Blood was splattered all over, the markings of where the bodies were boldly outlined on the floor. The sight gripped her by the throat, and threatened to have her vomitting all over. Never in her life did she think she would see such a sight in her own home.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Paige Rogers survived every CIA operative’s worst nightmare.

A covert mission gone terribly wrong.

A betrayal by the one man she thought she could trust.

Forced to disappear to protect the lives of her loved ones, Paige has spent the last several years building a quiet life as a small-town librarian. But the day a stranger comes to town and starts asking questions, Paige knows her careful existence has been shattered.

He is coming after her again. And this time, he intends to silence her for good…

Paige Rogers is a former CIA agent who lost all she treasured seven years ago when her entire team was killed in a covert mission. She blames their leader—Daniel Keary—whom Paige believes betrayed them. Disillusioned and afraid for her life, she disappeared and started a new life as a librarian in small town Split Creek, Oklahoma.

But her growing relationship with high school football coach Miles Laird and the political ambitions of her former boss threaten to unmask her. When Keary announces his candidacy for governor of her state, he comes after Paige to ensure that she won’t ruin his bid for office by revealing his past misdeeds. He threatens everything she holds dear, and Paige must choose between the life of hiding that has become her refuge . . . or risking everything in one last, desperate attempt to right old wrongs.

Trinity Shamrock Craft Review

Posted by Vicki on Mar 15, 2009

After recieving the kit in the mail from The Mac Rak I opened it up to take a look.

I pulled it out today and with the help of my two girls ages 9 and 7, we set to work. The instructions were well written, and easy to follow. Everything needed was included in the kit, which is great so I don’t end up running around to find stuff needed to finish products. Overall I like the craft, and especially like it’s Bible base as a way to let the kids learn about God while having fun. We did encounter some hitches though. The information said that this product is not recommended for children under 3, but even a 9 and 7 year old had problems getting the pieces placed correctly. It would be a great help if the background piece (the shamrock) was a little bit bigger, so it wouldn’t be quite so hard to get things placed right. We had much the same problem getting the word banners placed without overlapping the symbols. However, for a retail price of $4.25 per kit, I can’t complain too much. I think it’s worth the money, even if the placement is a bit persnickity.

You can find this product, and several other ones at The Mac Rak. You can also visit that website to see some pictures of other craft kits.

Update

Posted by Vicki on Mar 10, 2009

Life has been pretty busy around here with this and that. I’d have to say job searching is taking up the majority of my time right now. I spent a year working my butt off to get certified as a medical transcriptionist, finally finished that a month ago and have been looking for a job ever since.

I fell into a words trap when I signed up for the transcripting course, or at least I feel as if I did. They did such a great job promoting that I could work from home transcripting, all I needed was the certification!! They even have job placement assistance….all you had to do was take the transcripting course…..Well as I said, I recieved my certification a month ago and have sent resumes to at least 50 different companies, but no concrete job yet. *sigh* All these companies want experienced transcriptionist…and I don’t have that. However there is a light at the end of this tunnel. I have a line on a job now, transcripting from home (which is what I have dreamed of), just have to see if it works out. I’ll tell you all about it, when I find out I have the job!

In other news, money is tight, as with most folks. Tas refund hasn’t lasted nearly long enough, which I’m sure is the case with everyone else too! I have managed to pay bills, and take care of a few other important things, like getting a car. A car is needed in case I have to rejoin the work force from somewhere other than my home, plus it sure does make life easier!! I got a good deal on the car I think. It is a 2000 Dodge Intrepid, and I got it for about half of what the Kelley Blue Book website said that make/model/ and year of car would cost. I’m happy with it!! It is such a quiet and smooth ride that I’m in shock after having my old red rattletrap car.

Dad also built me a bookshelf which I have been wanting for years!! It’s a bit over 6 feet tall, and about 3 feet long, so I have room enough for all of my books, and even some extra room. I’m really happy with it!! Since my Dad built it, I know it won’t fall apart, and was incredibly cheap to make too!!

Well enough rambling for now…Still have to pop over to my Winter Lilies site and do an update there, but might save that until later tonight. I need to vacuum the laundryroom, and do a few other things around the house.

Weight Loss Pills

Posted by Vicki on Mar 10, 2009

Ahh, someone would think the subject of weight loss pills was near and dear to my heart as much as I end up blogging about it. Really in moderation dieting, weight loss pills, or whatever form you choose to lose weight, I feel, is personal choice. I have my own opinions on what I think is right or wrong, healthy or not healthy, but that’s just me. I’m no expert and have never claimed to be.

I’m probably about the last person to be consulted on healthy eating habits. I don’t diet, because I do not have the willpower to be hungry or to want something and deny myself. If I want chocolate, then chocolate I have.

I do take the Weight Smart One A Day multivitamins in hopes that they will help stimulate my metobolism and keep my weight to a minumum. I do exercise, but nothing set…No 20 minute a day workouts for me…I walk and ride my bike with the girls.

Area Rugs

Posted by Vicki on Mar 10, 2009

If one had no knowledge of area rugs, they would think that these area rugs were just cheapy rugs tossed over to the corner, but these rugs were antique rugs. It was a sad sight to see them thrown off to the side and forgotten, or were they forgotten?? No, upon closer inspection one would find that these rugs were covered in blood. But blood from whom, or what? It wasn’t just a spot or two of blood, it looked like these rugs had been soaked in blood. What had happened in this house?

Double Minds

Zondervan (February 1, 2009)

by

Terri Blackstock

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Terri Blackstock hasn’t always written for the Lord. Just over a decade ago she was an award-winning secular novelist writing for publishers such as HarperCollins, Harlequin, and Silhouette. With thirty-two titles published and 3.5 million books in print, she found that she was miserable. The compromises she had made in her career had taken their toll on her spiritual life, and she yearned to renew her relationship with Christ.

After much soul-searching and wrestling with God, she finally told the Lord that she would never write another thing that didn’t glorify Him. Thinking she might never be published again, she began planning ways to supplement her income, while she worked on her first idea for a Christian novel.

Because she enjoyed reading suspense novels, she tried weaving a faith message into a fast-paced page-turner with ordinary people in jeopardy. When Christian publishers expressed great interest, she realized that a secondary job would not be necessary. God was paving the way for her to enter the Christian publishing world.

Since that time, she’s sold 2 million Christian novels. She has over thirty Christian titles, many of which have been number one best-sellers. Her latest book, Dawn’s Light is part of her popular Restoration Series. True Light, reached number one on the Top 50 of all Christian books the first full month it was in stores. Night Light was the winner of the 2007 Retailer’s Choice Award for General Fiction. Other reader favorites include her Cape Refuge Series, her Newpointe 911 Series, her SunCoast Chronicles Series and her “Seasons” books written with co-author Beverly LaHaye.

Terri is literally a native of nowhere since she was raised in the Air Force, She makes her home in Mississippi. Terri and her husband are the parents of three adult children–a blended family which she considers one more of God’s provisions.

Terri has appeared on national television programs such as “The 700 Club” and “Home Life,” and has been a guest on numerous radio programs across the country.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Struggling to succeed in the Nashville music scene, talented singer/songwriter Parker James finds the competition fierce – even deadly. A young woman’s murder, industry corruption, and a menacing stalker draw Parker into danger and intrigue. Nothing is as it appears, and unraveling the truth challenges everything Parker believes about her talent, her future, and her faith.

The young girl with the Bohemian style was on the floor where she’d fallen, between Parker’s computer case and her file cabinet. She wore a long, flowing skirt—lavender, the color of calm—and camel-colored Uggs. She lay on her back, her long, wavy blonde hair matted with blood.

For struggling singer/songwriter Parker James, the music business has just turned deadly. Her desk in the reception area of a busy recording studio has become a crime scene, and Parker finds herself drawn into a mystery where nothing is as it seems.

Unraveling the truth puts her own life at risk when she uncovers high-level industry corruption and is terrorized by a menacing stalker. As the danger escalates, Parker begins to question her dreams, her future, and even her faith.

Double Minds is a double treat—combining a compelling suspense novel with an inside look at the world of the Christian music industry in Nashville. Terri Blackstock grabs readers at page one and keeps them riveted until the final plot twist is untangled.

Luxery Watches

Posted by Vicki on Mar 2, 2009

Selling high priced luxury watches and jewelry wasn’t what she wanted to do for the rest of her life, but it was something that she was happy doing for now. The hours were nice, having the weekends and holidays off were nice, the pay was decent, yes, this was an okay job until she found out what she really wanted to do. Her life had been one of searching, and jobs were no exception.

New York Yankees tickets

Posted by Vicki on Mar 2, 2009

Having New York Yankees tickets was not an oddity with her family. After all her father had been getting season tickets for as long as she could remember. She had wonderful memories of going to Yankee Stadium, just her and her Dad. Those memories were some of the best she had, because that had been a special time for her and her Dad. They had always been close, able to talk about anything and everything, problems, joys, sorrows, and the confusion that life often brought. That type of relationship was one that would last forever.

Love Finds You in Humble Texas

Posted by Vicki on Mar 2, 2009

This was a pretty good book.  Wow, all of a sudden I developed writer’s block concerning this book…*LOL*…Okay, I really like the bond between the sisters, it kind of reminds me of my sister and I. The sleepovers/slumber parties would be just like what we would do. I also liked the fact that the main charactor wasn’t all glamerous or thinking she’s “all that”…because I’m not a glamerous type either. I found it so touching that she would step back from the man she liked so as not to hurt the relationship with her sister, that is one thing I’m not sure I could do.

Anyway, I don’t want to give away too much of the book, so please pick up a copy and read for yourself.
