ABOUT THE BOOK

Tim Graber arrives in Sugarcreek to help his aunt and uncle with spring planting. At first, Tim doesn’t fit in with his many cousins and their crowded lifestyle. But when he meets Clara Slabaugh, the local school teacher, he understands why the Lord brought him to Sugarcreek.

Clara is shy and quiet. Scarred from a fire when she was small, Clara has resigned herself to living alone and caring for her mother, who tells her that no man will ever see past her scars, and that Clara needs to keep teaching in order to make ends meet.

Her father passed away years ago, and her mother depends on her. But the scars mean nothing to Tim. He appreciates her quiet nature and her wonderful, loving way with children. Yet Tim has a sweetheart back home in Indiana. As these two hearts struggle to determine their path, tragedy strikes, and every other worry seems insignificant in comparison.

Though they now face a life they never imagined, will Tim and Clara have the faith to step out and risk everything for a chance at true love?

ABOUT THE BOOK

How many brides does one man need?

It’s been years, but Luke Davis is back–older and wiser–and still alone. Returning as Lookout’s new town marshal, Luke is determined to face the past and move on. He flippantly tells his cousin he’d get married if the right woman ever came along. But then he discovers that the woman who betrayed him is now a widow, and all his plans fall at his feet.

Rachel has carried her guilty shame for eleven years. Her marriage to James Hamilton was not what Luke or the town thought it to be. Now James is dead, and her long-time love for Luke is reignited with his return to town. So when three mail-order brides appear, she panics.

Could they possible find love a second time?

Rachel begs his forgiveness, but Luke finds he has none to give.

And then the brides arrive. Three of them–ordered for Luke through newspaper ads by his incorrigible cousins. The only place in town for them to stay is Rachel’s boardinghouse. And none of the ladies is willing to let Luke go. When choosing a bride becomes a contest, the chaos that ensues is almost funny.

When the mayor forces Luke to pick a bride or lose his job, will Luke listen to his heart that still longs for Rachel or choose one of the mail-order brides?

Will Rachel find the courage to tell Luke that she loves him? Or take an anonymous part in the contest for his hand?

Weight Loss Pills

Posted by Vicki on Apr 22, 2010

Currently my weight loss pills are walking to and from the library, and the 3 blocks over to see Chief. I will be glad to have internet at the house, to make it easier to keep up on my email, book reviews, and the other online work that we do. I copied down a phone number for an internet company that services our area, so hopefully it will only be a few weeks at most until we have internet at the house.

Hah hah, here I was just a bit ago wishing someone could tell me the best acne face wash, and then I come upon this, http://www.acnetreatmentguide.org, website. I should write it down, and go visit it sometime when I’m not bogged down with work. Maybe it will give me some good information to pass onto the girls.

Maybe I’m just jumping the gun, because neither of the girls has had a problem with acne.

With a name like 7-dfbx you have to wonder what it is, or what it does. Me, I like to make up stuff, like it could be a computer robot, or maybe it’s like a phaser off Star Trek. Nah, I like the robot idea better. *LOL* I have the makings of an interesting sci-fi book. I did another entry on one of my other blogs today, that had a word that I thought would make a very cool name for a sci-fi creature.

Moved

Posted by Vicki on Apr 22, 2010

Sorry I’m so far behind on blogging!!!! We have spent the last week moving!!! Yes I said MOVING!!!! I am sooooo happy to finally be moved!!!! It’s been a rough move though, not only did we move all of our stuff to the new place, but we also spent 2 days clearing out a storage shed that we’ve had for like 15 years….so anyway it made for some very long days.

Now I am spending my time trying to get everything unpacked, all the clothing and bedding washed, and getting my house in order.

We don’t have internet at the house at this point, so I’m still stuck coming to the library, but it won’t be for long. I’m checking internet options as we speak, as well as trying to get some overdue work done.

Not much of an update I know, but I have tons of work to do so I need to get it started.

Worse??

Posted by Vicki on Apr 14, 2010

Logically I realize things could be much worse than what they are, and people tell me that all the time as well, but it doesn’t make me feel better about the way things are. People keep saying “You’ll find a house when the time is right”. I’d like to know who’s time, because the time has been right for me to get out of where I’m at for months. “keep Faith”…Yeah well faith doesn’t have a lot to do with how I’m feeling right now!!!! The simple fact is, I need to move NOW!!!!! “Oh give it time…” Yeah well isn’t 6 months enough time??

The sadest part of all of this is we could have maybe already BOUGHT a house, except that Dad’s name is on a bill of my sister’s that she hasn’t been paying, so it’s messed up Dad’s credit score to where he can’t get financed. I had the downpayment for the house, but we couldn’t get the financing….If that hadn’t been the problem we might have already been moved into OUR house, one that I wouldn’t have to worry if the landlord allows pets and all that crap!!

Diet Pills That Work

Posted by Vicki on Apr 14, 2010

I can’t just name a diet pills that works, because I don’t know which ones do, and maybe some work for some, but don’t work for others. I don’t know. I do know that if I don’t move soon, to where I’m getting a lot more exercise I will gain back all the weight I lost last year, and add some. I’m already gaining some back and I HATE it because I worked sooooo hard to lose it, but I guess that’s just one more thing to add to the ever growing list of stuff that isn’t going in my favor right now.

Phoenix Job Search

Posted by Vicki on Apr 14, 2010

I have thought of moving. Although I want to stay here to be close to my Dad and other family, I have thought about checking out the Phoenix job search stuff, or maybe some other city. I don’t know, I want to stay here, but the housing situation is deplorable around our area, and the job prospects aren’t much better.

I’m just depressed right now, and thinking that somewhere else, anywhere else would have to be better, even though I know that’s not true.

Ipods

Posted by Vicki on Apr 13, 2010

I’ve been kind of looking around at ipods lately. Not real seriously yet, but I’ve been thinking of maybe getting Des one for her birthday.

She’s outgrowing the toy stage, and a girl can only wear so many clothes, although her interest in clothing and shopping has increased dramatically lately.

She’s really into music, so I was thinking an ipod might be a good choi
