School

The girls are cruising along in their schoolwork. Maintaining good grades, and really learning the material, so I have no complaints.

Two weeks ago we went to a Homeschool Reading group thing at a nearby library. I though it would be fun for the girls to meet other homeschooled kids, but it seems that most are much younger than the girls, and the reading group thingy was disappointing. I didn’t seem to fit in very well with most of the people either. The girls did meet one 13 year old, who also plays soccer, and they have hit it off wonderfully! We went back to the reading group this week, not to participate, but to hang out with their new friend.

Since then, the girls have gone over to her house for a little while, gone to soccer practice together, and also went bowling together. *LOL* I’m loving that they are happy to be together. She is a very lovely girl, and I think she will make a great friend for the girls. Monday the friend is coming to the girls’ soccer practice, and also spending the night here next weekend for Dizzy’s birthday.

2 Down

Posted by Vicki on Aug 29, 2011

2 to go…..Blogs that is….Today is about the only day that I can spend blogging. I’ve got a very full week ahead, so I’m trying to get all my work done today.

We have soccer practice at least 4 times this week. I have 2 trips to Iola this week, and one trip to Topeka.

I have to go up to Topeka to pick up my Dad’s boots. He had to have new heels put on them. I would have had them picked up last week, except the boot shop closed unexpectedly, so that left me hanging. I’m not sure I’m going to continue to do business with them because of this issue. I do not have the time to fight with their schedule to try and get up there. I need them to be open when I have the time to go.

Iola trips are to get one of our rabbits neutered, so we don’t end up with little floppy eared babies. *LOL* Also there is a mechanic down there that is supposed to look at my car, and hopefully be able to tell me what’s wrong with it. Hopefully nothing that will cost a bunch of money to fix. I’m tired of putting money into it!!!

Things Are Well

Softball season is over for the year. It was a great year, and everyone had a lot of fun.

The weather has been hot and humid lately, but I am glad that the hot weather waited until July to start. Today in contrast is windy and looks like it might rain. The temps are nice, and I wish it would continue all day long.

Swimming lessons start next week. I’m not really looking forward to the travel every day, but it’s only for 2 weeks, so I will survive. *LOL*

I keep thinking that perhaps I will get to stay home at some point, but it doesn’t appear so. *LOL* Such is life with two non-stop active girls.

4 more

Posted by Vicki on Jun 19, 2011

I have 4 more work entries. I don’t want to be doing them today, but I don’t want to wait to do them either. I have a horrible headache, it’s that time of the month again, and to top it all off there is something else on my mind that is just driving me batty thinking about it. I will be glad when the first week of July rolls around so I can get this taken care of, and know, one way or the other what is going on. For me it is better to know, than to sit and wonder and worry.

Upcoming Events

Posted by Vicki on Jun 12, 2011

Well lets see here. We have softball for the next 3 weeks. We have 2 weeks of swimming lessons in July. We are also planning a pool day for the softball team, at the end of the season. Soccer should start in September, if I remember correctly. I am also planning dance lessons for both of the girls, and perhaps, if we are lucky, they will be able to do 2 dances like they want, but we’ll have to see how it shapes up money wise. Add in schoolwork, which they chose to go ahead and start, and our 2-3 times a week trips to the pool til the end of summer, and we add up to be quite busy for awhile.

I’m not sorry though, I love my life!!! They get plenty of time for their activities, their friends, and also home/family time, so we balance everything quite nicely.

Awesome

I’m making awesome progress on the fencing project. We finished the second stretch of fence yesterday. Only one more to do, and it’s a short stretch. It is a tangled up mess though, so it’s not going to be a walk in the park, but we’ll manage. Hopefully I can get it done within the next week or so, and then I’ll be completely done!!!

Today I am taking the day off from the fencing project so that I can get my work done here at home, along with some other business that needs taken care of as well.

Book Heaven

Here recently a lot of my time has been spent going through the curriculum catelogs and websites. Comparing this with that, trying to decide what it is exactly that I want for the girls for next year’s school. It’s been a fun, exciting, and somewhat stressfull event. *LOL* I think I’ve gotten it all figured out though. The girls even had some input on what it is that they would want, which was a piano course and a spanish course. The freedom of homeschooling is awesome. My children don’t have to be in middle or high school to be able to learn a foreign language, and I don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars every month for piano lessons.

Friday

Posted by Vicki on Mar 6, 2011

Friday afternoon Dad and I went to a dinner party type thing. We didn’t really want to go, as neither he or I are much on parties, people, or socializing. It was okay I guess. There weren’t all that many people there, but too many for our comfort. *LOL* We just aren’t into parties and people that much. Dad doesn’t even go to his company Christmas parties. *LOL*

We are the type of people that just prefer to stay home, and relax and enjoy our girls.

A Break

Posted by Vicki on Feb 24, 2011

I’m ready to take a break from working. My mind is in a fog, because I’ve been sitting here for quite awhile doing entries.

There is a new batch of laundry to get folded. I’m thinking about having some lunch, and it won’t be long until it’s time to go pick up the girls.

They are going over to a friend’s house tomorrow after school. It will be odd not having to go and pick them up, but they have been waiting for ages to go, so I don’t mind. They always have fun when they get to go over there.

So anyway, I’m off for now.

Weather

Posted by Vicki on Feb 24, 2011

Today it’s been raining quite a bit, and is rather chilly. It’s kind of annoying, because I’m ready to be outside doing things, but at least it’s better than snow and ice.

It seems with every year that the winter gets longer, and colder. I suppose I’m just wimping out as I develop more aches and pains. I did go out and play with the girls a few times in the snow, and it’s still fun, but I’m glad to see it at an end.

I’m ready to be out playing catch, softball, soccer, and riding bikes with the girls. I’m ready to go down and play with the horse, or simply to sit with him and read to him. *LOL* You’ve never seen a horse that enjoys being read to like him.
