The Storm

Posted by Vicki on Feb 3, 2011

A storm hit Monday night, and over the next few days dropped about 10 inches of snow. That wouldn’t have been so bad, but we had wind on top of it, so it created quite a blizzard for Kansas standards.

School has been out for the past 3 days, which isn’t a bad thing, as I wouldn’t have been out driving yesterday or the day before.

The girls have been sick anyway, so it’s better that school was closed so they don’t officially miss those days. They will miss tomorrow though, as neither one of them is well enough to go, and I can’t imagine them closing school again tomorrow.

Anyway, Dad and I got the car out yesterday so we could take Chief water. It really wasn’t that big of a deal to get the car out…lots of rocking it back and forth, but no digging.

Dad went back to work this afternoon. I don’t know yet when he’ll be home.

We never did lose power, thank goodness. With two sick kids, I really didn’t want to have to rely on only the oven for heat.

Anyway, I’d better move along and get some work done.

Reading

Posted by Vicki on Jan 16, 2011

Even though reading is one of my most favorite passtimes, I haven’t been doing much of it lately. No worries, I’ll pick up the hobby again the first time a new Louis L’Amour arrives. *LOL*

Life has just been busy, so I haven’t been reading much. Most of my spare time has been spent working on the embroidered crib quilt that I started acouple of years ago. I had it about 3/4 of the way done, but then I broke my wrist, and couldn’t work on it. After that I moved acouple of times and it never got unpacked. Anyway, I ran across it awhile ago and pulled it out to finish. I had to finish the crocheted hat I was working on, but as soon as I did that, I got back to work on the quilt. I finished the cross-stitching on it, and I am now in the process of backstitching everything, and then it’ll be ready to put together. I’m so excited!!

Christmas

Posted by Vicki on Dec 28, 2010

I’m afraid I’ve let my blogging slip a bit during this past week. It was very bad of me, and I do apologize. However I can’t be very sorry as I’ve had a wonderful time with the girls.

Christmas was a quiet affair. I did miss my Mom and brothers and sisters, but they were having a big dinner up at Mom’s sister’s place with their family, and while I would have been welcomed, I did not want to leave Dad alone. He would have been welcomed as well, but it would have been too many people for him to have enjoyed the festivities, so I will go up and see Mom and the others some other time.

Soon it will be time to take down the tree, which will be kind of sad, but on the other hand, the tree itself is looking pretty sad. The cats have helped themselves to the ornaments, and knocked the lights out of place. I think it’s about time we think about a new tree anyway, this one looked pretty scruffy when we got it out this year.

Personal Life

Posted by Vicki on Nov 19, 2010

Well, I really don’t know what it is that I’m going to talk about in this entry, but I’m sure I’ll think of something as I keep typing.

I do apologize for the lack of personal entries here lately. Things have been busy with this and that, so my time has been limited, and there are times when I just want to kick back and kind of take a break from spending so much time blogging.

I finally made it up to Topeka last week for a major shopping trip. I do most of my big shopping up there at Sam’s Club. I did realize after doing all the shopping, that I hadn’t picked up hardly any meat, but I guess that’s okay, it won’t be long until I make another trip up, and will stock up on meat.

I had to go up again this week to pick up a pair of Dad’s boots that I dropped off last week to be repaired.

Last week I also made a run to Emporia to pick up animal feed, and this past Saturday we did a hay run. So I’ve been kept pretty busy lately, with all the running in preperation for winter.

Some of you might be missing the posts I usually do on books, well I completely missed the November signup for the books, so you’ll see the posts start up again in January. The break from that hasn’t been a bad thing either. I did have one of the authors ask me if I would do a review on his book, to go along with the post I did. It was such a good book that I want to read it again before I do the review though.

Anyway, I guess that’s all I’ll ramble about for now.

My Car

Posted by Vicki on Oct 19, 2010

Well I finally got my car back. I was so happy!! I much prefer my car to driving Bubble’s pickup, although I am very thankful that she did let me borrow the pickup so that we would have transportation while my car was in the shop.

Now it’s just a matter of paying the bill on it. Thankfully the mechanic is willing to accept payments, so we’ll be alright. I can’t complain about the bill either, as it was much lower than what the dealer would have charged me.

So anyway, I think I’m back on the road again, although time will only tell, as I had a bit of a mishap with it this morning, but I’ll tell you all about that on one of my other blogs.

Templates

Posted by Vicki on Oct 10, 2010

Grrr…I don’t know what is up with this template. Sometimes my entries run into my sidebar, other times it’s fine. Maybe it’s not the template at all, maybe it’s the site settings, or something….I don’t know, but it’s kind of driving me nuts!!!!

I still plan at some point to make my own blog templates, but at this point I have no idea when I’ll have the time to sit down and do it. Things are just crazy busy around here, especially with me working most of the time, but I’d like to continue working for awhile, to get some things taken care of.

Update

Posted by Vicki on Aug 30, 2010

Well here I am this morning trying to get caught up with my life. I’ve been sick lately, so I’ve let some work slide, housework slide, and well, just about everything really.

Once I get caught up on work I can get that book reviewed for Susan Marlow, and also get the website done that I’ve been working on.

I need to get the house-work caught up as well, but I don’t know if that’s going to happen today or not…Really tired, and pretty busy with other things.

Moving Along

Posted by Vicki on Jul 31, 2010

Well I’ve gotten quite a bit of work done this past week, and just finished some work on this blog.

Now I need to go do some work on my website that I’m designing. I’m still missing some key items, but figure to do as much as I can until I get those items that I need. I’ll have to get with Bubble this week too and try to have her figure out what my problem with the backgrounds are, as I haven’t been able to get the backgrounds to work on the other pages. I don’t know what the problem is.

Reading

Posted by Vicki on Jul 21, 2010

I know I haven’t been posting a lot of book reviews lately, but I have been doing quite a lot of reading as usual.

I’ve been reading a lot of Dad’s Louis La’Mour books lately. I’ve read about half of his collection in the last month, and am anxiously awaiting the next shipment. Until then I keep myself occupied with the rest of his collection.

Anyway, I’m off for the night…I’m getting tired.

Discovery

Posted by Vicki on Jul 9, 2010

I have made a discovery about myself. Something I never knew, because I never had an opportunity to discover it. I like playing sports, well at least to the degree of playing catch, which is my favorite, or kicking around the soccer ball with the girls.

I have really enjoyed this summer, because it’s been full of evenings spent playing catch, and kicking around the soccer ball.

I am rather sad that I never had an opportunity to play sports as a child. I am thankful that the girls are being given this opportunity though!
