Have you ever heard the term “stranger things have happened”, well this is definitely true. I tend to be at the forefront of those stranger things sometimes. *LOL* Take my pets for example. In my lifetime I have had a pet chicken, who lived in the house for almost a whole year, because of an injury, and than after resuming her life outside as a regular chicken, would often come to the door, jump up against the door until she was allowed inside. She would only lay her eggs in the house, and no I don’t mean the chicken house either! *LOL* For those of you interested, she was housebroken too.

Here just a year or so ago, we had a pet duck named Lucky. He was in the house quite a few weeks due to an injury. We called him Lucky because he tangled with something and came out on the losing side, but still survived. Our guess was that it was a raccoon, but we are not sure. When my sister and I went out and found him he was bloody, and about half of his beak was no longer attached. After he healed up, he still had a hole between his beak and where his beak was supposed to attach. Tragically Lucky did not survive the following encounter with the raccoon.

I had a pet rat once. That’s not all that strange, but what is strange about my darling Mickey was that he developed pneumonia and I spent 5 or 6 days nursing him back to health. He wouldn’t eat or drink, wouldn’t hardly move, etc. So I had him with me constantly for something like 3 days. As I said, he wouldn’t drink, so I made sugar water for him, but he still wouldn’t drink it out of a bottle, but he would lick it off my finger, one drop at a time to start, and than later I would put several drops in my palm and he would drink it. After the first 3 days I deemed him well enough to sleep in his cage at night, instead of on the couch with me. A few months after his bout with pneumonia, he had a stroke, or what I’m assuming to be a stroke, because he always held his head at an odd angle for the rest of his life, and lost his sense of balance. He however lived to a ripe old age for a rat. I miss him though, he was such a sweetheart!

Well those are a few of my strange pets, and their strange lives. Hope you enjoyed this post, and PLEASE feel free to leave a comment with your strange pet or pet story!

I have to laugh at the timing of this Sunday Scribbling! My life has been full of nothing but changes lately. The most recent happening yesturday when my right arm was put in a cast.

For those of you that don’t know, my girls and I were in a car accident a month ago, and I had a wrist injury. Well, they thought it was sprained, than they decided that it was fractured, and than as I continued to have problems with it, they took it out of a brace, and put it in a cast. So I’m to be in a cast for the next 4 weeks, and then they are going to xray it again, and go from there.

Have you ever had to change from being right handed to doing almost everything with your left hand? Have you ever been a proficient touch typist, but than can’t do that, because one of your arms is pretty well out of commision? Have you ever been the independent type, but not must rely on others for help, because you can’t do certain things yourself?? It’s hard!!!

I really don’t have much to say about scandal. I try to avoid all the scandalous things that I can. I take no part in politics, because I have the belief that they are all liars anyway. They may sound good in public, but I’m sure they aren’t always telling the truth, and I seriously doubt that they will keep all the promises they make.

I try to avoid gossip as well, as it quite often lies, and I believe that peoples lives are their own business, and shouldn’t be spread all around town, or all around the internet.

I’m no saint, but surely wouldn’t want my mistakes being talked about by others.

I never have been one to blow my own horn, or to brag a lot about what I can do, or what I have done, or what I will do. I don’t suppose I have the confidence in myself to have a bragging personality. And it wouldn’t do me much good to brag about things that I have done, because it would be lie. Whatever I have done is because of God’s love and protection, and someone teaching me.

I mean really, how many things can WE ourselves do, that someone did not teach us to do?

I learned to dress myself, because someone taught me. I learned to ride a bike, because I watched others do it. I learned to read, because my parents taught me how. My sister taught me how to crochet. I know I can homeschool my girls, because my parents homeschooled me, taught me how to do it. My children and God, and my father have taught and guided me to be a good mother, although that is a lesson I’m still learning. *LOL*

If any of you know of something that YOU have done all on your own, leave a comment, because I’d be interested in knowing what that something is!!! I for one, can’t think of a single thing that I have not learned from someone else, in one way or another.

Blessings!

My style all depends on what we are talking about. I don’t really have a style of book that I like to read, although I do tend to stay away from the horror stories, and books with lots of blood and guts.

If we are talking about my style of clothing, well generally I lean towards the simple jeans and a t-shirt, or shorts and a t-shirt, depending on the time of the year. I do like dresses, but just don’t find them practical for everyday wear. Those are for dress-up, at least in my mind.

Pastels are NOT my style. I much prefer bright, bold colors, unless we are talking about painting walls in a house that I live in, and than I go for the softer colors. Purples, pinks, reds, greens and blues are generally my style, at least as far as clothing goes. If we are talking wall colors, than it would all depend on what room we are talking about…I think a nice cheery yellow might be a good color for the kitchen, but I’d have to wait and see, as I live in a rental and can’t paint it.

A house with no pets is NOT my style. I grew up having all sorts of pets, and just can’t see myself without some sort of miniture zoo. *LOL* Right now my zoo is on the small side with 4 cats and a snake. We will be adding a few more kittens soon though, because they have disabilities, and I have a soft heart.

Life without my children is deffinitely NOT my style. They are my love, they are my life, and my soul!! I can not see my life without them, and simply can not understand people that are not involved in their children’s lives. I am not talking about people that have put their babies up for adoption, as I understand most of the reasons people choose to do that. I am talking about people that just don’t care about their children, and choose not to have any part in their life. My children are my joy, they are what keeps me surviving day after day, and forging on ahead with my life, to be better than what I am. They are the reason I homeschool, because trust me when I say it is not for my convience that I homeschool, it is because they are the most important thing in the world to me, and I think homeschooling is the best thing for them.

I have many styles, as you can see, and all of those styles are what makes me me.

There was forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, just as there is forbidden fruit in today’s society, it’s just a different kind of fruit. Once upon a time drugs were a forbidden fruit, but many of our people did just what Adam and Eve did, and were persuaded to partake of it, and it ruined Adam and Eve’s lives, and it has ruined many people’s lives today.

Sexy clothes were a forbidden fruit, once upon a time, but now it is commonplace to see women and even children dressing to be “sexy”. I too was taken in by the mantra “if you’ve got it, flaunt it”, and I started my girls on that road as well. Oh, nothing compared to some that I’ve seen, but I let them wear spaghetti strap tanks and such, until I had a change of heart. Thankfully my girls are still young enough that they didn’t bat an eye when I told them that I no longer thought that those kinds of tops were appropriate. I don’t even consider myself that strict on dress codes, even now, but I am more careful. I don’t want my girls growing up to think that they can use their bodies to get what they want. I want them to respect themselves, and to know that just because they are a bit over-weight, or have a models’ body, that it’s what is in their hearts that counts.

Beware of forbidden fruit…It make look good and taste good, but it can lead to your destruction.
