I Have Never Understood…

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

I have never really understood some people’s fascination with handbags and purses.  To me, they are an annoyance.  And yet, other people have collections of them that include Marc Jacobs handbags, and handbags in leather, as well as other materials.  I am more into collecting coins and stuffed animals, or decorative plates for the wall that I have to dust…..NOT handbags.  Oh well, each to his own, I suppose.

Lying Around

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

In our efforts to rearrange in the last few weeks, we have been decluttering some of the things that have been lying around, unused in the last several months.  So far, we have gotten rid of some clothing, some electronics, some kitchen items, some of the miscellaneous items that were in this house when we moved in about a year ago, and a BUNCH of stuff from the outbuildings that was here when we moved in.

The last of the “foster” horses that were here left earlier this week, which will help us get our pastures under control and be a bit less work with Winter weather coming in a few months.

God Bless Your Weekend!

Coupons

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

I have come to realize that some of the coupons that you can find on-line are likely to help you make some of the best purchasing decisions that you have ever made.  I have never used tiger direct coupons, but I have heard that they are probably one of the best places to get coupons on-line.  In this day and age, even us non-coupon-clipping shoppers are trying to get the most out of the money we spend.  And, for some of us, being able to shop on-line, like for holiday gifts, is OUR way to shop!!

God Bless Your Weekend!

NOT Sure….

Friday, May 14th, 2010

…….what is up with people these days, but something that has me puzzled for a couple of weeks now is the fact that society has suddenly, in the last couple of generations, found a “need” for things that no one “needed” before.  Oh, you ought to know what I am talking about….things like hormone shots and testosterone cream, changing the sex that you were born and such.  Is it just me, or is something wrong with this?  Is it just because we have the technology now for that kind of stuff?  Is it because, over the years of pollution and chemicals, the human being isn’t quite right anymore in certain cases?

That ought to give you something to ponder over the weekend!

God Bless!!

A Possibility?

With one of our BIG projects, coming to a close, and as we look into another, similar project, we are looking at lighting options.  We have found a whole bunch of different types of lighting fixtures and such….some of flush-mount….others are recessed…..some are even Quoizel lighting fixtures….  There are SOOOOO many to choose from, and each of them has their own pros and cons, of course.

Busy, Busy

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

*sings*…Hush, little baby, don’t say a word….Mama’s gonna buy you diamond engagement rings….

Well, life around here has been busy, busy….as usual.

I’ve had a job situation change the last 2 weeks, so I’ve been able to spend more time at home during the day, so I have been working with a couple of horses that are out here….Alice and Pheline (her 18 month old filly).  Alice is a character with a story ALL of her own!!!  When we moved in here, Alice had been basically untouched for who knows how long.  And Pheline had never been touched, as far as we know.  Last week, I had hands on Pheline 2 or 3 different times….only the nose, though….but that’s a start.  And then, I decided I NEED Alice moved from where she is at, which happens to be in my “round corral” that I’ve created, so I started working with her….VERY slowly.  I had hands on her 5 or 6 days in a row up until it was raining in torrential downpours yesterday!!!  She prefers to be approached from her off-side at this point, and you CANNOT approach her face.  But in that 5 or 6 days, I DID finally get her to where she wasn’t jumping every time I touched her!!!  And I had gotten to where I could rub her neck, and shoulder, and about half of her back and upper belly, AND I HAD gotten to where she was accepting me rubbing the OTHER side of her neck and letting me put my hand on her nose!!!  That translates into BIG steps for Miss Alice, even though I am NO WHERE near ready to attempt to put a halter on her.  A few minutes here….a few minutes there….and not pushing her into territory where SHE’S not comfortable yet.  I have NO doubts that if you push her into some place where she’s not comfortable, she WILL hurt you (as I suspect she has done with other people in the past).  She is beginning to trust me more, though, or she wouldn’t be letting me touch her, so that is a GOOD sign!!!  A couple of more weeks, if the weather will dry back out, and I will have her haltered and moveable to another pen/area, and I MIGHT even know how close she has ever been to being ridden!!!  One SLOW step at a time, though!!!!  I use the opportunities that I have had to get my hands on her and get close to her to clean the mats out of her mane that have been there since God knows when…..and I use the opportunities to help shed out her Winter fur that’s still hanging around because it’s matted and such.  A couple of weeks, I should have her mane cleaned out completely!!!  And she will be a prettier girl than she is now!!!

And Pheline is a WHOLE other entry!!!

God Bless!!!

Hmmmm…..

With Spring-like weather upon us, we have been spending ALOT more time outside!!  Which is good, because I was starting to get cabin fever, I think, back in December.

We’ve been getting some flowers from our other house in the ground, in between the rain and snow and dark of night.

We’ve also found some that have been on this property for QUITE a while, from the looks of things.  The rose bushes that we’ve found so far look like they are WELL established.  If they were a human, they would probably be wondering which would be the best eye cream for wrinkles, since they are so old.  I am looking forward to seeing if they bloom this year, and if they do, what type of rose and what color they are!!!

God Bless!!!

I Think…

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

…In this day and age, we as people need to resort back to our heritage and the remedies that our ancestors used, in certain cases.  I am one who believes that today’s society over-uses drugs and chemicals and poison-based cleaning supplies and such, and I believe that, every once in a while, we need to take a break from such things and give our bodies a chance to clean itself out.  I think the best colon cleanse that I have heard about in the recent months is one that is all natural.  People sometimes forget, when they are buying cleaning supplies and prescriptions and such, that our bodies were not designed for all of that stuff.  What did our ancestors do before they had chemical-based cleaning supplies?  They used all natural items….that’s what they did.

So, if you take that in to account, and the fact that we have a lagoon for our “sewer system” with this house, we have made more of a change to natural ingredient-based cleaners, as well as not dumping prescritions down the toilet unless we know how they will affect the living environment of our lagoon and such.  We, as a household, are striving to be better…to our environment…to our bodies….to our house and other things around us.  It has DEFINITELY been a learning experience for us, with having the lagoon!

Skin Care

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Okay, I have to admit that I am not all that up-to-date on skin care products, but arcona might be the one that gets my attention the most.  They have a whole product line out that is supposed to help restore your skin’s balance.

Have you noticed this year that some people are REALLY slow on getting their Christmas decorations down?  And it’s not just individuals!  I know for a fact that a town not too far from here still has their street light decorations up.  What is up with this?  Am I missing something?  Or is it just because Christmas came and went so fast this year that time just got away from alot of people?

Hope you are having a blessed weekend!

Possibly?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Sometimes, I wonder if the way we live as a society actually has an impact on health issues such as acne and such.  Are we doing something that our bodies weren’t designed to do, and that is why some people have to deal with acne more than others?  Maybe it’s the result of a build up of chemicals in our bodies?

They have got alot of different types of acne medicine out there these days.  It’s hard to know which one to choose.  Even the doctor’s can’t always help you find the right choice.

Oh well, just a thought on this Saturday.  God Bless!!
