Searching

Monday, September 6th, 2010

We have been doing some searching over the last few weeks, for several things, both in-store and on-line.  These things would definitely profit us if we got them, but one of the questions is:  Where do we get the best deal?  I have to say that I have seen a wholesaler or two that didn’t seem to have “wholesale” prices, but then again, I’ve seen some that you wonder how they stay in business with prices so low on their products.  I would say, in my unprofessional opinion, that if you could find the item you are looking for through a wholesaler or close-out specialist…that would DEFINITELY be the best way to get a deal!!

I Have Never Understood…

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

I have never really understood some people’s fascination with handbags and purses.  To me, they are an annoyance.  And yet, other people have collections of them that include Marc Jacobs handbags, and handbags in leather, as well as other materials.  I am more into collecting coins and stuffed animals, or decorative plates for the wall that I have to dust…..NOT handbags.  Oh well, each to his own, I suppose.

Looking…

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

As my pick-up gets more and more and more and more miles on it, I have to admit that I have been looking at other vehicles.  Not only the cost of getting the vehicle itself, but also the cost of registration and title and vehicle insurance quotes.  I have found that alot of places will give a multi-car discount, as well as student discounts, and safe driver discounts, and if you have your renter’s insurance through the same place, you can sometimes get a multi-policy discount.  Some places make insurance quotes REALLY easy and other places make them REALLY hard!!!  I am going to stick with one of those that makes getting, keeping, and even changing insurance easy.

It’s Amazing…

….the number of phone calls that we have been getting in the last few weeks that are agents with life insurance leads that are trying to sell us life insurance.  It might not be so bad, if some of them didn’t treat you like you don’t know what you need, insurance wise, and try to bully you into buying their product.  I have to admit that I haven’t been letting much of anybody bully me on the phone lately….insurance agents….solicitors or anybody else that calls and wants our money!

Lying Around

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

In our efforts to rearrange in the last few weeks, we have been decluttering some of the things that have been lying around, unused in the last several months.  So far, we have gotten rid of some clothing, some electronics, some kitchen items, some of the miscellaneous items that were in this house when we moved in about a year ago, and a BUNCH of stuff from the outbuildings that was here when we moved in.

The last of the “foster” horses that were here left earlier this week, which will help us get our pastures under control and be a bit less work with Winter weather coming in a few months.

Coupons

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

I have come to realize that some of the coupons that you can find on-line are likely to help you make some of the best purchasing decisions that you have ever made.  I have never used tiger direct coupons, but I have heard that they are probably one of the best places to get coupons on-line.  In this day and age, even us non-coupon-clipping shoppers are trying to get the most out of the money we spend.  And, for some of us, being able to shop on-line, like for holiday gifts, is OUR way to shop!!

Ramblings

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

We have been busy the last couple of weeks.  Internet has been up and down….Phone has been up and down….We are assuming it’s because of the storms that have been coming through every once in a while.

Found a place in a nearby town to get cheaper feed for all of the animals.  We are, at this point, using one feed for the horses, donkey, goats, chickens, ducks and geese, which makes it easier, I think.  Wouldn’t you know that they have promotional pens available from this place? I think everybody has promotional pens these days…except for me. Maybe I’ll get one made for me one of these days?

The Best Of The Best

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

It kind of irks me with all of these companies claiming theirs and only theirs is the best.  Who is to say that the best wrinkle remover for you is the best one for me?

Life has been busy around here the last couple of weeks, and our internet was down for most of that time.

Got a couple of more baby goats.  They are supposed to be the same age as the other one we got, but they are like half the size of our other one.  They are frail and just don’t seem to be doing super great, so we have been milking both female goats in the evening and letting the new babies, Flapjack and Fireball, drink the milk.

A Possibility?

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Someone called me the other day trying to “sell” me a “free” Royal Caribbean cruise.  I’ve never been on a cruise, but their deal just didn’t sound all that great.  Maybe some day my son and I can experience a cruise, though.  That would be a GREAT vacation, or so they tell me!

Had a varmit visit last night (or so we are assuming) and are now missing 6 of our special order chicks that we were going to be using for breeding this next Spring.  Will leave one of the dogs out tonight and see what happens.

Busy Days

Friday, June 18th, 2010

It seems, as the Summer is going quickly by, that my days are getting busier and busier.  Life here at home is FULL of activity with all of our animals and the possibility of some more in the next 3 or 4 weeks, if things go right.  I would have to say that busy-ness is my natural weight loss formula…..LOTS of activity with the animals, and not much time to sit down and take a break some days.

Have gotten a halter on Alice the last 3 or 4 days!!!  Wouldn’t you know it?  She actually leads, and she has NO fear of a lariat!!!  She also, at SOME point, has apparently either had some rope training or has been tangled up and/or hurt in a rope or something similar.  My partner and I have been picketing her out in the pasture and letting Pheline be loose out there because we figure Pheline isn’t going too far as long as Alice is staying put.  I’m KIND of interested to see how she reacts to saddle blankets and a saddle.

Got some goats the other day.  Someone was getting rid of them because they aren’t “show worthy” anymore, so now we have two adult female milking goats and a little buck (the son of one of the females that’s not weaned…YET).  It has been interesting the last few days because they have actually been eating on the black locust trees that we have out in the pasture….thorns and all!!!  WORKS FOR US!!!!  Maybe they can help us get the things killed!!!

God Bless!!
