Finished Again!!!

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Yep, I finished reading the Bible through from cover to cover once again this last Monday.  I think that makes my 6th time through that particular version, but I wouldn’t guarantee it.  I have restarted it again, and am ready to start chapter 30 in Genesis, at this point.  I’ve already done some reading today, but I MAY do more later.  One of the verses that we have been clinging too here lately is the one that says “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God”.  Of course, there is ALSO the one in Matthew that says “seek first the kingdom of God, and ALL these things will be added unto you”.

The last several months have brought me to the realization that we have NO WHERE else to turn for answers….NO ONE else to trust in to bring up through the storms that are raging in our lives safely.  Even with that knowledge, though, I’m still left with some of the same old questions that I’ve been looking for answers too for years now…..”How can I make faith in God work for US like it seems to work for others?”  I THINK I’ve FINALLY figured out how to GET confidence, or faith…by regularly reading the Word of God and finding Scriptures that pertain to our situations!!!  That’s step one, I guess.  NOW, how do I make my faith manifest itself into the physical realm to make our lives better?  I’m not really sure how to make it work at THIS point, but I WILL figure it out!!!  And I WILL get it figured out SOON!!!

More rambling later….

Sales

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Allow me to rant and rave about something for a few moments, if you would please?

Have you noticed that when a store advertises a “sale“, that it’s NOT always a TRUE sale?  I have experienced this several times over the last few months.  I go into a store and see the sale advertisement, or a “sale” sticker for a particular item, so I pick it up.  ALOT of them I’ve noticed say something like “limit 2?.  Okay, in my mind, that means you are only allowed a maximum of 2, right?  Well, I get up to the check-out with this “sale” item, after having picked up only 1, and it rings up as regular price.  Upon questioning the cashier about it, the cashier informs me that you have to buy 2 of the same item to get that sale price.  Now how lame is that?  And no, this is not something I’ve noticed at just ONE store in this area….I’ve noticed it in a few different stores.  Tell me….is there something wrong with that scenario, or is it just me?

If Jesus Came To Your House….

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

These are the words of a song done ALOT of years ago by Red Sovine that I LOVE!!!  Stop and ask yourself these questions as you read through it…You MIGHT be surprised at your answers if you answer honestly!!!

If Jesus came to your house, I wonder what you’d do?

Yes, if Jesus came to your house, to spend a day or two,
If He came unexpected, just dropped in on you.
Oh, I know you’d give your nicest room to such an honored guest,
And all the food you’d serve to Him would be the very best.
And you would keep assuring Him you’re glad to have him there,
That serving Him in your home is joy beyond compare.

But, when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door
With arm outstretched in welcome to your Heavenly visitor,
Or, would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in?
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they’d been?
Would you turn the radio off and hope He hadn’t hear?
And wish you hadn’t uttered that last cloud of hasty words?
And would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush him out?

And I wonder, if the Savior spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?
Would you go right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
And would you’re family conversation keep up it’s usual pace?
And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?

Would you sing the songs you always sing and read the books you read,
And let Him know the things on which your mind and Spirit feed?
And would you take Jesus with you everywhere you planned to go,
Or maybe, would you change your plans for just a day or so?
Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends?
Or hope that they would stay away until his visit ends?
And would you be glad to have Him stay forever, on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief, when He at last was gone?

Oh it might interesting to know the things that you would do,
If Jesus came in person, to spend some time with you.
