Hey…hey…hey….guess who? Yeah, yeah, I KNOW that it’s been awhile since I wrote regularly in here. But Life has been kind of interesting/hectic/chaotic/busy…ummmmm…did I miss any?
I have met someone. We are taking things slow, and all I will say right NOW is that he IS a Christian!!! An ACTIVE Christian!!! I have to say that that has been a GOOD thing for my son and I!!!
And then we found a house, and finished moving this last week!!!! It’s a nice house, with a few acres. It’s got LOTS of potential, and has needed (and CONTINUES to need) ALOT of work outside to clean up the place, and get the use out of it that we want it to have for us. I am NOT sorry that we’ve moved!!! This property is even set up for horses!!! And we are a “foster home” for several horses for a local person!!! Makes MY days a bit better!!!
Speaking of horses, I went over to a friend’s house early last week and started working with his 2-1/2 year old filly. She “isn’t ” halter-broke, I’m told, and we have problems getting in the trailer. A couple of months ago, she broke 2 halter ropes and one halter or something when they had to take her to the vet. So, I told this friend that I could get her AT LEAST to the point of being halter-broke and trained to load. So, last week, I went to work on this project. Had her (her name is Lilac) leading within 2 hours…with and without a halter!!! VERY sensitive to touch, she is, and VERY smart and willing to learn!!! Was a joy to work with her on the 29th!!! Was pretty tired that evening, as I haven’t done that much work with one in a LONG time, but was a GOOD tired!!! On September 30th, I went back over there, and started working on the trailer. It took me 3 hours to get her to step up in my friends’ 3-horse slant-load horse trailer. Boy, did THAT feel good!!! Let her stand in there with me reassuring her for about 45 minutes, and went to back her out…..and never did succeed on THAT…*sighs* I tried for 3 hours to get her to step out of the trailer, back out of the trailer, even fall out of the trailer, with my friend trying to help me for about the last 30 minutes or so…..it finally got to the point that he had to go to work and I had to go get my son from school, so I took the halter off of her, and tied the trailer door back, and left her. My friend said she eventually came out…..which is good, I guess. I was frustrated beyond belief because I haven’t ever had a horse that wouldn’t at least fall out of the trailer once you got them started in that direction. I am going to TRY to get back over there this next week and work with her a bit more on that, but I’m not sure if the weather is going to cooperate or not. It was a whole 40-some degrees today, and our windchill for tomorrow is supposed to be down slightly below freezing during the day, so we’ll have to play it by ear and see what happens.
On Thursday, I believe it was, I worked with one of the horses that is out here at our new house. Her name is Chikala, and she is a red, line-backed dun. I only worked with her for about 45 minutes, but she is pretty smart. I had her leading with AND without a halter halfway decent. Not QUITE as good as I’d like, but I don’t have all the equipment that I need to do it “right”. I’m thinking that SOME time this week, I’ll see about taking my saddle out and see how she reacts to that. The woman that owns her says that she has had someone on her back…..but we have NO details on how long they stayed, or how she reacted, at least that I know of. It SHOULD be interesting, anyway!!! If I can confirm or deny the fact that she is rideable, it’s possible that she will be transferred to the owner’s property before very long. But there are SEVERAL more out here that need to be worked with, at least to a small extent, so it won’t be a matter of me lacking something to do. I just have to get the weather to cooperate, now that Fall has arrived!!!
We got 3 donkeys to foster tonight!!! What an addition to our mix of dogs and cats, ducks and goose, horses and mules. Chances are, the donkeys aren’t going to be here very long, but that could change too, maybe. At least they don’t take up much space!!!
Been reading my Bible a BIT more regularly the last couple of weeks. I’ve had a weight in my soul that I can’t explain, but reading my Bible, or listening to Christian music, or prayer seems to help it lift. I got the first DECENT night’s sleep in AGES a couple of nights ago, after about 3 hours of Bible reading and prayer!!!! The only thing bad about it was that it WASN’T long enough!!! My, did I feel good to start the day, though!!!
Well, enough rambling for now, I think. You all take care, stay warm, and CLAIM the blessings that belong to you!!
