Ahhhhh, The Wee Hours Of The Morning Are…

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

….Slipping quietly by.  I thought about going back to bed about 2 hours ago.  At that point, I figured I might as well restart the dryer, so I did that, and suddenly wasn’t as tired as I was before.  So here I sit.

Been LOTS going on….too much to go into much detail on most of it.  Have had some BUSY days, and as I look at my calendar, I don’t see many “appointments” on it, but I seem to be running ALL the time anyway.  Why does it work that way in my life?  Can’t I have ONE day when I don’t feel like I have to be somewhere, or doing something else?  Oh, yeah, I DID that….over the last weekend.  We actually stayed HOME, but I don’t really feel like it was much of a chance to catch up on rest.  There is always alot to do on the homefront, to keep a house functioning smoothly, or even semi-smoothly.  I found a little quote on a calendar I have though that I am wondering how to adopt.  It says:

Create a peaceful home by adopting the rules of simplicity.

Hmmmmmm….just HOW do we do that?  It sure does sound good!!!

In my last post, I think I mentioned I had seen something that I didn’t know Kansas had, but I left you guessing as to what it was?  Would you believe me if I told you I saw a bald eagle?  I have NO idea what he was doing this far away from the mountains and higher elevations, but it was sure a WELCOME sight!!!  You may not realize it, but the Native Americans (or at least some of them) believed that the bald eagle brought good luck and was a strong omen.  I would have to think that belief would be like quadrupled if you see one where they aren’t normally seen…wouldn’t you?

Okey dokey, folks…it is 4:15A.M. and I need to go do something else for awhile….maybe try going back to bed or something?  You all have a BLESSED day!!!

Uh, Oh….

Okay…I had it….and now I’ve lost it….no, not my mind….the topic for this entry.  I had one in mind earlier that I figured would make a GOOD one, and now I can’t remember what it was.  Hmmmmm…..I don’t like it when that happens….Anyway…..

The “little things” continue.  Yesterday, I stopped at the ATM machine and got out of my pick-up to get my card out, and started to close the door just a bit, so I could get to the ATM….well, with the door slightly kinked from hitting the deer several days ago, it didn’t swing like it normally does, and it swung closed and latched….with my fingers still in the way.  Can we say “OUCH!!!”?  If the door hadn’t been kinked from the deer, the door would never have latched completely.  Needless to say, instead of going to eat lunch with my son at school for National Cafeteria Week, I made a run to the Doctor’s Office to get x-rays done.  Saw a doctor that I don’t normally see because the two that I like didn’t have anything open.  The diagnosis, you ask?  He “doesn’t think” my fingers are broken…but he’s going to have the radiologist look at the x-rays.  My ring finger and middle finger were both involved, and my ring finger was bleeding a bit.  Can you believe the doctor didn’t even clean it up to see if it was just a scrape or something more serious?  Didn’t even offer me a bandaide, either.  And I’m paying HOW much for the priviledge of going in to see him?  Today, they are DEFINITELY bruised, and sore at certain instances.  My ring finger is especially sore in one area for some reason….but the doctor “doesn’t think” it’s broken.  It HAS made it interesting typing and writing and such today, that is for SURE!!!

Other than that, not much going on.  Took my pick-up in to get it fixed tonight and ended up leaving it.  Fun, fun, fun….

The weather is cool and damp-ish.  Seems like the same weather, day after day, after day, after day.

Got some bread in the oven at the moment.  Don’t ask me why, other than we are out of bread and I was in the mood.  Hopefully, it will turn out edible!!

Well, enough babbling for the moment, I think, considering I still can’t remember what I was going to write about in here.  You all have a GOOD weekend, and we’ll try to do another entry soon!!!
God Bless!!!

Little Things

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Seems like it’s the little things that always seem to get the best of people sometimes.  It’s not a big crisis that causes the most problems sometimes…..just one little thing after another after another….after another.  That seems like the story of my life sometimes.  Not real sure what can be done about it, but it SURE does get flustrating sometimes….like now….Having some banking issues the last few weeks…hit a deer with my pick-up on the way to school one morning a couple of weeks ago and tore up my headlight/turn signal, my grill, my fan shroud, my fender, my hood and my door on my pick-up…..now have a pretty good oil leak that we are going to HAVE to get fixed, which is more of a pain in the butt than we figured….one of our ducks (Huffy) apparently flew South for the Winter about 3 weeks ago….one of our other ducks (Gimpy) died last week….tonight, my goose (Gracie) decided to attack a vehicle and came out on the losing end of things…..And that’s just the tip of the iceberg….yep…just this, that, and something else….*tired sighs*  Now is when we need to stay strong, and stay focused, and now is the time when it is the easiest to get distracted by everything that’s going on.  Long days and short nights SURE don’t help things much, either, and they don’t help us stay focused much either.  Staying focused is what we HAVE to do….even if it IS difficult….keep our eyes on what God has led us to, and not let Satan get us distracted and steal it from us.

Did you know that the actively Christian family, who prays together and stays together, is, in MY opinion, the #1 thing that Satan wants to destroy?  What’s #2, you ask?  In MY opinion, it would have to be first-born sons.  The saying that a house divided against itself WILL fall is SOOOOOO true, and Satan tries to use that as a way to get a Christian household to stop being so Christian…..Satan uses anything and EVERYTHING He can to drive wedges between people and just generally cause a bunch of hate and discontent.  That is what I HAVE to stay focused on right now….not letting him cause hate and discontent in OUR household.  Easier said than done, I know, but that is my goal at this point.  I will NOT let Satan steal my household from me!!!

So far I have read Psalm 12, Psalm 91, and Jeremiah 51-Lamentations 5 today!!!  MIGHT just read some more before I lay down too.  Have actively prayed for quite a while too…..an hour or better maybe.

Blessings in ABUNDANCE to you and yours!!!  And may you also claim the promises of Abraham if you are entitled to them!!!

Where Do I Start?

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

Hey…hey…hey….guess who?  Yeah, yeah, I KNOW that it’s been awhile since I wrote regularly in here.  But Life has been kind of interesting/hectic/chaotic/busy…ummmmm…did I miss any?

I have met someone.  We are taking things slow, and all I will say right NOW is that he IS a Christian!!!  An ACTIVE Christian!!!  I have to say that that has been a GOOD thing for my son and I!!!

And then we found a house, and finished moving this last week!!!!  It’s a nice house, with a few acres.  It’s got LOTS of potential, and has needed (and CONTINUES to need) ALOT of work outside to clean up the place, and get the use out of it that we want it to have for us.  I am NOT sorry that we’ve moved!!!  This property is even set up for horses!!!  And we are a “foster home” for several horses for a local person!!!  Makes MY days a bit better!!!

Speaking of horses, I went over to a friend’s house early last week and started working with his 2-1/2 year old filly.  She “isn’t ” halter-broke, I’m told, and we have problems getting in the trailer.  A couple of months ago, she broke 2 halter ropes and one halter or something when they had to take her to the vet.  So, I told this friend that I could get her AT LEAST to the point of being halter-broke and trained to load.  So, last week, I went to work on this project.  Had her (her name is Lilac) leading within 2 hours…with and without a halter!!!  VERY sensitive to touch, she is, and VERY smart and willing to learn!!!  Was a joy to work with her on the 29th!!!  Was pretty tired that evening, as I haven’t done that much work with one in a LONG time, but was a GOOD tired!!!  On September 30th, I went back over there, and started working on the trailer.  It took me 3 hours to get her to step up in my friends’ 3-horse slant-load horse trailer.  Boy, did THAT feel good!!!  Let her stand in there with me reassuring her for about 45 minutes, and went to back her out…..and never did succeed on THAT…*sighs*  I tried for 3 hours to get her to step out of the trailer, back out of the trailer, even fall out of the trailer, with my friend trying to help me for about the last 30 minutes or so…..it finally got to the point that he had to go to work and I had to go get my son from school, so I took the halter off of her, and tied the trailer door back, and left her.  My friend said she eventually came out…..which is good, I guess.  I was frustrated beyond belief because I haven’t ever had a horse that wouldn’t at least fall out of  the trailer once you got them started in that direction.  I am going to TRY to get back over there this next week and work with her a bit more on that, but I’m not sure if the weather is going to cooperate or not.  It was a whole 40-some degrees today, and our windchill for tomorrow is supposed to be down slightly below freezing during the day, so we’ll have to play it by ear and see what happens.

On Thursday, I believe it was, I worked with one of the horses that is out here at our new house.  Her name is Chikala, and she is a red, line-backed dun.  I only worked with her for about 45 minutes, but she is pretty smart.  I had her leading with AND without a halter halfway decent.  Not QUITE as good as I’d like, but I don’t have all the equipment that I need to do it “right”.  I’m thinking that SOME time this week, I’ll see about taking my saddle out and see how she reacts to that.  The woman that owns her says that she has had someone on her back…..but we have NO details on how long they stayed, or how she reacted, at least that I know of.  It SHOULD be interesting, anyway!!!  If I can confirm or deny the fact that she is rideable, it’s possible that she will be transferred to the owner’s property before very long.  But there are SEVERAL more out here that need to be worked with, at least to a small extent, so it won’t be a matter of me lacking something to do.  I just have to get the weather to cooperate, now that Fall has arrived!!!

We got 3 donkeys to foster tonight!!!  What an addition to our mix of dogs and cats, ducks and goose, horses and mules.  Chances are, the donkeys aren’t going to be here very long, but that could change too, maybe.  At least they don’t take up much space!!!

Been reading my Bible a BIT more regularly the last couple of weeks.  I’ve had a weight in my soul that I can’t explain, but reading my Bible, or listening to Christian music, or prayer seems to help it lift.  I got the first DECENT night’s sleep in AGES a couple of nights ago, after about 3 hours of Bible reading and prayer!!!!  The only thing bad about it was that it WASN’T long enough!!!  My, did I feel good to start the day, though!!!

Well, enough rambling for now, I think.  You all take care, stay warm, and CLAIM the blessings that belong to you!!
