Response To A Comment
On my last entry from a few days ago, someone left me a comment that we should be happy about being in our time, and things could be worse, and may very well become worse. Basically, they were saying that we shouldn’t dwell on lost values and such in society.
Values make UP our society, in alot of ways, in my opinion. If the world has no values, then what will we become? A society of liars, cheaters, and beggars, more than likely. Eventually, if we have no values, then we will have no society. People will look out for only THEIR interests. And they won’t care who they hurt in the process of getting what they want. The values that society has lost is a subject that I believe we should take VERY seriously. Of course, we are all allowed our own opinion.
As for being happy in OUR time…..Yes, we should maybe be happy to live in our time. I agree on that. We are living in a time that is TRULY spectacular!!! The internet age, even with all of it’s downfalls and traps. The age of space exploration. Some of the photographs that have been taken by the Hubble Telescope and other cameras of space are DEFINITELY a fantastic thing to see!!! The age where medicine is advancing faster in some areas than it ever has before!!! Yes, this is DEFINITELY an age to live in!!! And I have to say, in SOME ways, I am glad to be alive in this age!!!
I agree that, as the world loses more values and integrity, things WILL get worse in society. But I believe it will be those of us with values and integrity that will help stem the flow of society towards the darker side of things. Those of us who try to keep some of “yesterday’s” values alive when everyone else seems to have lost them will be the ones that will hold people accountable for their behavior and their lack of values and integrity. As things get worse in society, I believe it will be the people WITH values that will survive the best, because it will be those people, and ONLY those people who will be able to be trusted. And those who can’t be trusted will, eventually, find out that they are on the losing end of things.
